KBot User Guide

KBot is voice-controlled intelligent personal assistant app for parents and kids. Parents and kids can ask kiddobot app various things like tell a story, nursery rhymes, jokes, math questions, word meaning, word spellings, who is someone, what is something, small talk, etc. User can also ask the app to open an app, go to a website, do web search, play video or search YouTube videos. If running with Kids Place app, it will only allow to access approved apps/sites and videos based on kids place, kids video player and safe browser settings.

In the wake word mode the device continuously listens to all speech, monitoring for the wake word “Hello Buddy” to be spoken. As soon as the app hears the wake word or user tap on mike button, the app will start listening for voice command from user.

Below are the details of various interactions you can do with KBot

Listen to Children Stories

You can ask KBOT following things:

  1. Ask “Tell me a story” – App will randomly pick and tell a children story from its collection of stories.  You can ask KBot to pause; resume story any time or use on screen media controller.
  2. Ask “Give me a list of all stories” – App will give a list of all the stories it has. You can tap on a story to play or ask it to “Tell <Store Title> Story”

 

Listen to Nursery Rhymes and Children Songs

You can ask KBOT following things:

  1. Ask “Sing me a nursery rhyme”- App will randomly pick and play a nursery rhyme from its collection of rhymes.  You can ask KBot to pause; resume story any time or use on screen media controller.
  2. Ask “Give me a list of all songs”- App will give a list of all the songs it has. You can tap on a song to play or ask it to “Plant <Song Title> Song”

 

Hear Jokes

You can ask KBOT following things:

  1. Ask “Tell me a joke” – App will randomly pick and say a joke from its collection of jokes.
  2. Ask “Tell me a <Joke Category> joke”.  App will randomly pick and say a joke from its collection of jokes for the specific category. Currently supported categories are “Knock Knock” and “Animals”.

 

Math Questions

You can ask KBOT for simple math questions involving addition; subtraction; multiplication; division and combination of any of the operations mentioned earlier. Here are few examples:

  1. Ask “What is 78 + 63” – App will speak the answer of the requested operation.
  2. Ask “What is 7×6 + 46/6 – 8”  App will speak the answer of the  requested operation.

 

Word Meaning/Dictionary

You can ask KBOT for meaning of any word. Here are few examples:

  1. Ask “What is the meaning of  genuine”
  2. Ask “Define Artificial”

 

Spelling

You can ask KBOT to spell any word. Here are few examples:

  1. Ask “How do you spell amazing”
  2. Ask “Spell intelligence”

 

Topic Questions: What is Something?

You can ask KBOT to ask “What is something” to get information about a topic.

  1. Ask “What is an eclipse”
  2. Ask “What is a crater”

 

Person Questions: Who is Someone?

You can ask KBOT to ask “Who is someone” to get information about that person/character .

  1. Ask “Who is George Washington”
  2. Ask “Who is Harry Potters”
 

Open App

You can ask KBOT to ask open an app.

  1. Ask “Open Minecraft app”. If child lock setting is enabled, app will be opened only if its approved app in Kids Place.
  2. Ask “Open app”. KBot will ask you tell an app name to open.
 

Open a Website or Do Web Search

You can ask KBOT to open a website or do a web search.

  1. Ask “Open disney.com”. If child lock setting is enabled and safe browser is installed, site will be opened with safe browser app and your safe browser web filtering setting will be applied.
  2. Ask “Search Harry Potter”. KBot will do a web search for the specified key word and will enforce safe browser web filtering rules.
 

Play a Video or Do YouTube Search

You can ask KBOT to play a video or do a YouTube search.

  1. Ask “Play Minecraft Tutorial Video”.  If kids safe video player is installed, app will be open and play the specific video if its approved in the safe video player app.
 

Small Talk: How are you?

You can do small talk with KBot. Here are few examples:

  1. Ask “How are you?”
  2. Ask “What is your age?”
  3. Ask “Are you smart?”
 

Configure Settings
  1. Check “Child Mode” to run app in child safe mode using Kids Place – Parental Control app and its plugins Safe Browser and Safe Video Player apps.
  2. Check “Enable Wake Word Mode” to have app listen continuously for wake word to trigger listening mode for commands.
